Collaboration brings ideas around accessibility
For some time, we at Sitevision have teamed up with Funka and other CMS players around the world to investigate the question of whether it is possible to build accessibility support into various web publishing tools. The project is now moving towards its final phase and there are many ideas!
The project has been about what happens when different actors come together and explore the question of how accessibility can be built into the different platforms that are out there. How a CMS provider can support those who create content on websites so that the content is accessible.
We have a result?
Early on, we prioritized and agreed on ten different focus areas within the project. These have ranged from accessible tables to improved accessibility control in the tools. As the platforms are different, albeit striving towards the same goal, the idea of the project is to create an idea base for development. What other actors out there can do to achieve accessibility in their respective solutions. As a partner, we have been able to share our experience and know-how, while learning from others on many other levels.
The features we focused on
This is not specifically about the functions we have built into Sitevision, as many already exist. Rather, it has been about us trying to find a possible way for CMS providers in general to improve their environments. Of course, we also have ambitions to weave the knowledge we bring from the project into our platform, as good can always be better!
Funka has produced presentations of the features we looked at, and also put together presentation videos. There is no doubt that everyone needs to put more effort into accessibility, and now it may be easier to do just that.
