Pilots and kudos create engagement
When SBAB launched the new intranet Helicopter, they had a plan from the start to create community and increase engagement. A plan that, among other things, consists of kudos and a special type of pilots ...
SBAB has hundreds of employees and the intranet is an important channel for internal communication. When the new intranet was launched, Sitevision's Digital Workplace Advisor Johan Nilsson was given a tour of it – and was particularly struck by two features.
Spreading love with kudos
SBAB's employees are encouraged to "spread some love" on the intranet. They can give – and show! – each other by filling in a form that becomes a kudos card.
The kudos card features a photo of the person receiving the kudos, along with a message and the sender. The kudos card is displayed on the intranet home page, among other places, and has become an appreciated and frequently used feature. A real boost and something nice to be greeted by when colleagues log on to the intranet. Fun – and maybe something for others to follow?

Pilots create recognition
Working with system ambassadors is nothing new but still something that can be difficult to maintain in the long term. SBAB's intranet Helicopter has a team of ambassadors in each department within the organisation – and they are called helicopter pilots.
To keep the work going in the long term, the pilots meet regularly to discuss content, structure and functionality that will keep the intranet relevant and meet the needs of employees.
The pilots have been met with many happy faces and pep – and they have also helped to create recognition for more people on the intranet.
How do you do it?
Cheer SBAB for using simple and smart solutions that contribute to big and complex issues. What are you doing in your organisation to keep engagement up on the intranet?
