AI, internal communication and eSam
How can we use artificial intelligence to help our citizens? And what is the real impact on the importance of internal communication in a time of global unrest? These were some of the issues discussed during the government meeting. eSam was also present to talk about the digital collaboration platform for the public sector. Did you miss the meeting? No worries – here's a summary.
A bouquet of concrete tips related to internal communication
In a time of turmoil, knowing how to communicate internally can be challenging – it can even feel a bit futile. But the truth is that communication has never been more important and everyone can make a difference, even in small ways.
Internal communication is always key to creating engagement and healthy workplaces, but what is important to think about right now? This is what Anna Almberg talked about at Myndighetsträffen and sent us a springy bouquet of fourteen concrete tips. Some of the things Anna highlighted were the spiral of openness and trust, the importance of communicating briefly and simply, and the need to sit down by the campfire.
The spiral of openness and trust
Are you thinking about what you should communicate? What is most important now is to be open and build trust. So tell it like it is and inform often. Focus on building and strengthening relationships.
Short and simple
This is not the time to go overboard, instead create content that is short and simple. Keep your inner eight-year-old in mind when you write. Good communication should go straight to the heart and not have to go through the brain.
Light the campfire
There is a need for many people now to talk to others. So it's time to light the campfire – at least mentally and create a sense of presence. Where do you create the campfire in your workplace? What arenas do you have for chatting, reflecting and recognising where colleagues can talk to the point?

Everyone is talking about AI
Rek.ai was also at Myndighetsträffen and talked about the latest in AI. From how AI can create images and illustration to how AI can be used in healthcare.
There are several areas of use for AI and it is already used in several places among Swedish authorities. For example, the Swedish Forest Agency uses AI to look for dead spruces using drones and image recognition, which means that people no longer have to go looking. Sisab also uses AI to control, optimise and analyse properties in real time using algorithms. This work has resulted in positive effects on both the indoor environment and the economy.
How can you use AI on your website?
On websites, there are also a number of benefits and uses for AI. Visitors to the web are becoming increasingly lazy, but by getting recommended content with the help of AI, the visitor finds the right one faster and you as an editor reach out with your content. And this is exactly what Rek.ai is working on. By the way, you know that Rek.ai is available as a module in Sitevision, right? You can find the module in the Marketplace External link, opens in new window..
eSam: Digital collaboration platform
Protecting information and personal data is more important than ever. At the same time, the pandemic has contributed to the increasing prominence of the digital workplace. A public organisation should not have to spend time and resources on protecting information from a supplier, but should feel confident in how it is handled. There are also a number of laws to comply with, both Swedish and foreign. However, the law and IT security should not restrict, but instead make it clearer which solutions can actually be used.
During Myndighetsträffen, Erik Enocksson from the eSam project and working group was on hand to talk about these very challenges facing the public sector, but also about eSam's work on the digital collaboration platform. A work that started in June 2021 together with eight of eSam's members (today they are twelve) to analyse alternatives to Teams as a collaboration platform.
The project has been divided into two stages, starting with a dialog with suppliers and setting high standards for them, as well as conducting a market survey. The next step is to investigate how to work with the tools. eSam also wants to facilitate cooperation between municipalities, regions and authorities, and will develop action plans that can be applied to different activities. The idea is that no one should have to start from scratch when it comes to making procurements and requirements to suppliers, or in the work with information security analysis and new working methods – eSam will be involved and support in all steps.
Sitevision – a user experience
The day ended with Karl Eklöf from Sitevision talking about how we meet the requirements of the authorities linked to eSam. Sitevision does not solve all needs, but can deliver a user experience through Sitevision intranet. In eSam's report "Digital collaboration platform", they discuss several different tools that the public sector can use instead of Teams. These can be integrated with Sitevision and several of the integrations are already complete and more are underway. Read more about our work on a user experience for the public sector here.
