"The year with SVT " – award-winning site that inspires
They have a unique mission – to make television for everyone in Sweden. So what's the best way to show how well SVT has lived up to its public service mission? With an attractive, accessible – and award-winning – website. This is how the Year with SVT turned out!
Background and challenge
The whole of Swedish Television, that's how SVT describes itself. And its mission – to be at the service of the public – is a mission that also imposes requirements, requirements to account for how the money has been used. Every year, SVT produces a public service report to show how it has lived up to the requirements and conditions set out in its broadcasting license. It concerns the range of services, organisation and finances. The review board, politicians, journalists, researchers and yes – the public too, of course, get an insight into the work.

Solution
Easily accessible and attractive
The public service report is a hefty 130 pages. To make the content more accessible, a website was built that could also drive traffic to SVT's website.
SVT's strategy department, together with Sopra Steria, developed and built the website in Sitevision. Texts, images, graphics, figures and statistics were produced. Everything needed to answer questions such as what SVT has done for the money, how they have stood up to the competition, how they have coped with the review and what the audience has thought of them. A lot of information and facts, but always with the same focus – to make the site as accessible and attractive as possible.
The result
Winner of the Swedish Design Award
So how did it turn out? Well, the fact that the site won the prestigious People's Choice award in the Swedish Design Awards says a lot. It's also a living material. There is every opportunity to easily update texts and images, develop the menu and increase searchability. The hope is that the website will continue to lead to discussions, increased knowledge and answers to the public's questions.
